Habitat é um cartão de artista de Vera Chaves Barcellos que articula fotografia, apropriação de material impresso, colagem e linguagem gráfica. Habitat is an artist card by Vera Chaves Barcellos that combines photography, appropriated printed material, collage and graphic language. On the front of the card, a photographic reproduction depicts a wooden dwelling, fences, a tiled roof and elements of a residential area. The image is printed in a strong reddish tone, reducing the chromatic information and emphasizing the contrast between the architectural structure, vegetation and surrounding ground.

On the reverse, Vera Chaves Barcellos connects the image of the dwelling with a newspaper classified advertisement offering a residence for sale. The advertisement describes a house in new condition, including information about its built area, lot, price and contact address. Beside the clipping appear the name Vera C. A frente apresenta uma reprodução fotográfica de uma habitação impressa predominantemente em vermelho e preto sobre uma área retangular central, cercada pelas margens claras do cartão.

No verso, encontra-se colado um recorte de anúncio classificado de jornal iniciado pela expressão Boa residência em estado de nova. O texto informa uma residência com 350 m² em terreno de 11 × 33, menciona amplas peças e indica endereço na Alameda Coelho Netto, em Porto Alegre. O recorte é incorporado materialmente à composição e estabelece relação direta com a imagem residencial da frente.

Também aparecem no verso o nome Vera C. Barcellos em letras pretas e a inscrição Habitat em vermelho, disposta verticalmente. Sobre a área da inscrição Habitat há pequena intervenção gráfica em tinta azul. São ainda visíveis perfurações próximas à região superior central e vestígios de fita adesiva junto às bordas e cantos.

Não foram identificados data, destinatário, endereço postal, selo ou carimbo de circulação. Portanto, não há evidência visual suficiente para afirmar que este exemplar tenha circulado pelo sistema postal. A dimensão também não pode ser determinada com segurança a partir das imagens disponíveis.

The front presents a photographic reproduction of a dwelling printed predominantly in red and black within a central rectangular area surrounded by the light margins of the card.

On the reverse, a newspaper classified advertisement beginning with the expression Boa residência em estado de nova is attached by collage. The text describes a residence with 350 square meters of built area on an 11 × 33 meter lot, mentions spacious rooms and provides an address on Alameda Coelho Netto in Porto Alegre. The clipping is materially incorporated into the composition and establishes a direct relationship with the residential image on the front.

The reverse also bears the name Vera C. Barcellos in black letters and the word Habitat printed vertically in red. A small graphic intervention in blue ink crosses part of the Habitat inscription. Perforations are visible near the upper central area, together with traces of adhesive tape along the edges and corners.
