Cobertor de Jornal, de Alberto Harrigan, é uma obra de Mail Art realizada sobre cartão relacionado à Exposição Arte / Correio: Brasil e ao I Seminário de Semiótica e Arte, realizado na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, UFRN, em Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, de 16 a 21 de julho de 1981.

No anverso, Alberto Harrigan ocupa o espaço destinado à intervenção artística com uma colagem formada por recortes de jornal, principalmente anúncios classificados, sobre os quais aparece uma imagem impressa de figura masculina segurando um conjunto de papéis junto ao corpo. Newspaper Blanket, by Alberto Harrigan, is a Mail Art work created on a postcard related to the Exposição Arte / Correio: Brasil and the I Seminário de Semiótica e Arte, held at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, UFRN, in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, from 16 to 21 July 1981.

On the front, Alberto Harrigan occupies the area intended for artistic intervention with a collage made from newspaper clippings, mainly classified advertisements, over which appears a printed image of a male figure holding a group of papers close to his body. The composition establishes a direct relationship between the body, the materiality of the newspaper and the idea of covering suggested by the title Newspaper Blanket.

The intervention covers almost the entire interior area of the postcard and preserves the printed instruction Work on the blank space and return it. Elements of the support associated with J. Medeiros and Falves Silva also remain visible, linking the object to the participatory postcard proposal used in the Exposição Arte / Correio: Brasil.

O anverso apresenta uma colagem composta por fragmentos de jornal com anúncios classificados e uma imagem impressa central de figura masculina. A intervenção ocupa grande parte do campo visual e utiliza o próprio jornal como elemento material e semântico da composição.

O título Cobertor de Jornal foi fornecido para identificação da obra e é compatível com a estrutura visual do trabalho, na qual a figura aparece associada a recortes de periódico que funcionam como cobertura e fundo da composição.

Na margem superior permanece legível a inscrição Trabalhe o espaço em branco e devolva. Na parte inferior aparecem fragmentos das inscrições impressas do cartão, incluindo a referência a J. The front presents a collage composed of newspaper fragments containing classified advertisements and a central printed image of a male figure. The intervention occupies a large portion of the visual field and uses newspaper itself as both a material and semantic element of the composition.

The title Newspaper Blanket was provided for identification of the work and is consistent with the visual structure of the piece, in which the figure is associated with newspaper clippings that function as both covering and background.

The printed instruction Work on the blank space and return it remains legible along the upper margin. Fragments of the printed postcard inscriptions also remain visible at the bottom, including the reference to J. Medeiros and Falves Silva. These elements belong to the participatory support used in the Exposição Arte / Correio: Brasil.
