Awaken is a work presented in the context of the II Fespopi in June 1969. The composition uses a black and white photograph of a hand holding a group of cards or small sheets. On the front card appears the word DESPERTA, visually structured through the enlargement and transformation of the letter P, which occupies the center of the word and extends vertically as an autonomous graphic element. The arrangement of DES, P, and ERTA transforms the word into a visual structure, allowing verbal reading and graphic perception to occur simultaneously. The photographed hand also introduces a dimension of action and physical manipulation, relating the verbal sign to the gesture of holding, displaying, and presenting the object. The work belongs to the language experiments of Poema Processo associated with the II Fespopi of 1969, in which word, image, photography, typography, and spatial organization participate in the construction of the poem.

Na frente encontra se uma imagem fotográfica em preto e branco aplicada ou reproduzida sobre uma área retangular, mostrando uma mão que sustenta um conjunto de cartões. O cartão superior apresenta a palavra DESPERTA, com a letra P ampliada e alongada verticalmente, separando visualmente os segmentos DES e ERTA.
