Graphic work produced by Fraction Studio in France in 1988 within the context of the experimental group No Unauthorized, a project connected with French musician, composer and artist M. Nomized, the artistic name of Michel Madrange. The piece combines graphic art, an object designed for assembly, artists publishing, participatory instruction and visual communication, connecting the musical activity of the group with mail art, postal art and independent publishing developed through Fraction Studio during the 1980s.

The work presents, against a black background, a flattened structure designed to be assembled into a cube. Six square modules are arranged in a cross shaped configuration, and each face contains the same stylized human figure shown frontally, with dark hair, large rectangular glasses or eyes and a graphic element across the mouth suggesting obstruction, silence, censorship or restricted communication.

The identification NO UNAUTHORIZED appears repeatedly around the portraits. Through this repetition, the name of the group becomes a visual component of the artwork itself. Several folding tabs carry the instruction CEMENT HERE, functioning both as an assembly direction and as part of the graphic composition.

The structure is intended to be cut, folded and glued so that the two dimensional printed sheet becomes a three dimensional object. A composição é impressa predominantemente em preto e tonalidade clara sobre uma superfície escura. No centro encontra se uma estrutura em cruz formada por seis quadrados, configuração característica da planificação de um cubo.

Printed sheet produced by Fraction Studio in France in 1988 containing a flattened three dimensional construction created within the context of No Unauthorized, the experimental group connected with M. Nomized.

The composition is printed predominantly in black and a light tone against a dark surface. At the center is a cross shaped structure formed by six squares, a configuration characteristic of a cube net.

Each square contains the same graphic portrait. The figure has dark hair, a pale face and large rectangular forms in the eye area. A sequence of vertical bars appears across the mouth and can be perceived as an element suggesting obstruction or silencing.

The name NO UNAUTHORIZED appears repeatedly around the images and in different orientations. Once the sheet is assembled, these inscriptions accompany the different faces of the object.

Several external tabs carry the expression CEMENT HERE. These areas correspond to the points intended for gluing during construction of the cube.
