A obra aproxima figuração e abstração. Text for the Salsa program in EnglishUntitled is a work created by Fábio Moreira Leite in 1974 for On Off 3, the third issue of the artists publication organized by Julio Plaza and Regina Silveira. The composition consists of black lines, curves, hatching and densely filled areas on a light background. The typographic identification FABIO M. LEITE appears in the lower left margin. The sheet presents a large organic form occupying most of the surface. A broad rounded and relatively empty volume appears on the left, connected with a dense concentration of lines and dark marks on the right. The configuration may resemble the body of a large animal, possibly a horse, ox or another quadruped, with its head lowered. The species and subject cannot, however, be securely identified from the image alone. The left side is constructed through a limited number of lines, while the right side contains intense graphic density. This difference creates tension between emptiness and saturation, silence and noise, recognizable form and visual disorganization. The possible body remains partly legible, but the area corresponding to the head or front section appears crossed by pointed structures, intersecting lines, fragments and black masses. The image may suggest confinement, injury, transformation, confrontation or decomposition. It may also be interpreted as an encounter between an animal form and a mechanical, vegetal or architectural structure. These possibilities arise from the visible composition and should remain curatorial interpretations because no direct statement by Fábio Moreira Leite explaining the image was located. The drawing does not describe the body through precise anatomy. Its lines change in pressure, direction and density. Some regions are formed by light contours, while others contain repeated strokes, hatching and compact dark areas. The graphic gesture remains visible and makes the process of drawing an essential part of the work. The unfilled space on the left actively participates in the composition. The light background is not merely a neutral support. It separates the lines, expands the scale of the possible body and intensifies the visual impact of the dark concentration on the right. The work moves between figuration and abstraction. Certain contours allow the viewer to recognize an organism or bodily volume, yet the complete figure never becomes entirely stable. Perception alternates between identifying a subject and observing only lines, curves, marks and directional forces. The inscription FABIO M. LEITE functions as an editorial attribution. Its regular printed characters contrast with the gestural drawing and connect authorship with the material structure of the publication. An important cataloguing issue must be considered. MAC USP records an Untitled work dated 1974 within On Off 3 under the joint authorship of Guta and Fábio Moreira Leite. The public institutional listing consulted does not present a second independent contribution by Fábio Moreira Leite within the third issue. This suggests that the image shown may be the reverse, second face or complementary section of the sheet previously identified through Guta

s signature. Such a structure would also explain why both artists appear in a single institutional record. Direct examination of the object is required to confirm this relationship. When the Guta image and this Fábio Moreira Leite composition belong to opposite sides of the same sheet, the principal catalogue record should preserve the joint authorship Guta and Fábio Moreira Leite, following MAC USP. Each face may receive an individual description within the same object record, preventing the incorrect creation of two separate works.Fábio Moreira Leite was born in São Paulo in 1951. MAC USP records two works associated with the artist and six exhibitions containing works from its collection. These include Tendências do Livro de Artista no Brasil, Livro de Artista no Acervo, Julio Plaza Arte como Ideia, Arte como Questão Anos 70, Um dia terá que ter terminado 1969 74 and Julio Plaza Indústria Poética. The institution also connects his work with Prospectiva 74, organized by Julio Plaza. On Off was edited by Julio Plaza and Regina Silveira between 1972 and 1974 and brought together artists connected with conceptual art, graphic experimentation, artists publishing and alternative circulation. The third issue consisted of independent contributions assembled inside an envelope identified by the ON OFF stamp and the number 3.The editorial condition changes the experience of the drawing. The sheet could be removed from the envelope, viewed independently, compared with the other contributions and returned to the set. When both sides were used, the physical act of turning the support became part of encountering the work. The possible relationship between a face by Guta and another by Fábio Moreira Leite reinforces the experimental character of On Off 3. Joint authorship did not necessarily require a single image simultaneously produced by both artists. It may have resulted from their shared use of one support, a division between front and reverse or another collaborative editorial arrangement that still requires documentary confirmation.Untitled is a relevant document of Brazilian graphic and editorial production during the 1970s. It brings together gestural drawing, organic form, graphic density, ambiguity, editorial authorship and collective circulation. Its presence in On Off 3 places the work within a platform in which support, reproduction, handling and relationships among different artists directly contributed to meaning.

Observation text in EnglishHorizontally oriented work containing black marks on a light paper support. No additional independent contribution by Fábio Moreira Leite was located in the public institutional listing for the third issue. There is therefore a strong possibility that this image is the reverse or second face of the sheet previously signed by Guta. This relationship should be confirmed by examining whether the two images occupy the same physical support. When they do, the catalogue should contain one object record with joint authorship and separate descriptions for the front and reverse.Recommended provisional titleUntitledRecommended provisional authorshipGuta and Fábio Moreira LeiteDate1974PublicationOn Off 3Face descriptionDrawing by Fábio Moreira LeiteThe technique may provisionally be described as a black graphic reproduction of a drawing on paper. The exact printing process, dimensions, print run, numbering, original position within the envelope and earlier provenance have not been confirmed. The support displays yellowing, minor undulations, small marks and possible handling traces. A definitive condition assessment requires direct examination of the front, reverse, margins and printing process.
