Work Poem 1, by Ronaldo Vertis, identified by the pseudonym Bocage, was produced in June 1969 and is related to the II Fespopi exhibition, the Festival de Pirapora, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The visual poetry composition is constructed through the repetition of a single rounded and curved graphic module presented in different positions and orientations across the paper. In the upper area, the signs initially appear in a horizontal sequence and in small groupings. In the central and lower areas, the same elements multiply and become concentrated, forming a visual structure based on repetition, displacement, rotation, rhythm, density and spatial distribution. The graphic module operates as the constructive unit of the poem, replacing conventional verbal organization with a predominantly visual mode of reading.
