A imagem reúne diferentes fragmentos figurativos. À esquerda aparece uma figura humana com o braço estendido segurando uma forma semelhante a uma cabeça ou fragmento corporal. Ao centro encontra se uma grande ampulheta, símbolo tradicional da passagem do tempo, da duração da vida e da mortalidade. Dentro e ao redor dessa estrutura aparecem outras formas corporais. À direita observa se uma figura humana parcialmente representada. Na região inferior surgem outras figuras, incluindo uma pessoa portando objeto semelhante a uma arma, além de imagens corporais isoladas.

Na parte inferior direita aparece o contorno do mapa do Brasil preenchido por numerosas cruzes. A associação entre território brasileiro e sinais funerários introduz uma dimensão coletiva e nacional à obra. As cruzes podem ser lidas como índices de morte, violência, vítimas e memória. A justaposição entre corpos, arma, ampulheta e mapa transforma a composição em uma narrativa visual sobre a fragilidade da vida e sobre processos de violência que atingem indivíduos e sociedade.

The composition is printed in red against a white background and combines photographs, drawings, symbols and graphic montage to construct a reflection on violence, death, mutilation, social conflict and human suffering. At the top appears the word MUTILAÇÃO, functioning as both title and interpretative key for the entire visual composition.

The image brings together different figurative fragments. On the left appears a human figure with an extended arm holding a form resembling a head or bodily fragment. At the center is a large hourglass, a traditional symbol of the passage of time, the duration of life and mortality. Other bodily forms appear within and around this structure. On the right is a partially represented human figure. Additional figures appear in the lower area, including a person carrying an object resembling a weapon, together with isolated bodily images.

At the lower right appears the outline of the map of Brazil filled with numerous crosses. The association between Brazilian territory and funerary signs introduces a collective and national dimension to the work. The crosses can be interpreted as signs of death, violence, victims and memory. The juxtaposition of bodies, weapon, hourglass and map transforms the composition into a visual narrative about the fragility of life and processes of violence affecting both individuals and society.
