In this composition, Spence organizes a restrained group of typographic and geometric elements across a large white field. Two vertical lines establish the central axis of the work and operate simultaneously as boundary, direction and spatial structure. Around this axis appear isolated letters and small typographic clusters including E, P, K, WR, L, S and T, together with an equality sign. A circular form on the left continues into a curved line approaching the vertical axis, creating a graphic connection between gesture, drawing and writing. On the right, an angular structure defines a triangular area filled with a dotted screen, producing a contrast between line, texture and empty space. Near the lower section another small group of calligraphic looking signs appears, reinforcing the ambiguity between recognizable language and writing transformed into image. The composition does not propose conventional verbal reading. Letters, lines, curves, symbols and textures become visual units positioned within the space of the page.
