Nesta composição, Spence organiza um conjunto econômico de elementos tipográficos e geométricos sobre uma ampla superfície branca. Duas linhas verticais estruturam o eixo central da obra e funcionam como limite, direção e elemento de organização espacial. Ao redor desse eixo aparecem letras isoladas e pequenos agrupamentos tipográficos, entre eles E, P, K, WR, L, S e T, além de um sinal de igualdade. Uma forma circular situada à esquerda prolonga se por uma linha curva que se aproxima do eixo vertical, criando uma ligação gráfica entre gesto, desenho e escrita. À direita, uma estrutura angular delimita uma área triangular preenchida por retícula pontilhada, introduzindo contraste entre linha, textura e vazio. Na região inferior aparece outro pequeno conjunto de sinais gráficos de aparência caligráfica, reforçando a ambiguidade entre linguagem reconhecível e escrita transformada em imagem. A composição não propõe uma leitura verbal convencional. Letras, linhas, curvas, sinais e texturas funcionam como unidades visuais distribuídas no espaço da página. O grande campo branco participa ativamente da obra, estabelecendo silêncio, intervalo e relações de distância entre os diferentes elementos. A peça aproxima poesia visual, poesia concreta, poesia experimental, desenho, tipografia e comunicação gráfica, campos fundamentais para compreender as práticas internacionais de experimentação poética da segunda metade do século XX. Pete Spence, Visual Poetry 10, 1994. Work of visual poetry and experimental poetry by Australian artist Pete Spence, developed through an investigation of the relationships between word, letter, graphic sign, space and image. In this composition, Spence organizes a restrained group of typographic and geometric elements across a large white field. Two vertical lines establish the central axis of the work and operate simultaneously as boundary, direction and spatial structure. Around this axis appear isolated letters and small typographic clusters including E, P, K, WR, L, S and T, together with an equality sign. A circular form on the left continues into a curved line approaching the vertical axis, creating a graphic connection between gesture, drawing and writing. On the right, an angular structure defines a triangular area filled with a dotted screen, producing a contrast between line, texture and empty space. Near the lower section another small group of calligraphic looking signs appears, reinforcing the ambiguity between recognizable language and writing transformed into image. The composition does not propose conventional verbal reading. Letters, lines, curves, symbols and textures become visual units positioned within the space of the page. The extensive white field is an active component of the work, producing silence, interval and spatial relationships between the different signs. The piece connects visual poetry, concrete poetry, experimental poetry, drawing, typography and graphic communication, fields that are fundamental to understanding international poetic experimentation during the second half of the twentieth century. The work is manually signed Pete Spence 94 in the lower right corner, directly associating the piece with the artist and the year 1994. Visual Poetry 10 documents Pete Spence's investigation into the fragmentation of language, spatial organization of words and transformation of written signs into visual structures.
