Mail art invitation card sent by R. Saunders, identified in archival sources as Robert Saunders, to Brazilian poet, artist and researcher Marcelo Dolabela in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. The correspondence is connected with the international mail art exhibition Gallery Between the Staircases, organized by Saunders at the Currier Gallery of Art in Manchester, New Hampshire, United States. Historical records confirm that the project took place in 1980, included more than two hundred participants and belonged to the international mail art network.

The front of the card contains a black and white graphic reproduction printed over graph paper. The image presents a standing human figure framed by a dark structure resembling a doorway, architectural passage or space between staircases. The expression Gallery Between the Staircases is placed across the body. The composition combines photomechanical reproduction, strong contrast, granular texture, photographic appropriation and textual intervention. The name R. Saunders appears at the bottom.
