Cartão de arte postal enviado em 1984 pelo artista alemão Michael Groschopp, então residente em Magdeburg, República Democrática Alemã, para o artista brasileiro Falves Silva, em Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. A peça integra a circulação internacional de Mail Art que conectou artistas da América Latina e da Europa Oriental durante os anos 1980. Na frente do cartão, Groschopp utiliza uma imagem fotográfica reproduzida por processo gráfico de retícula, mostrando uma figura humana sentada, sobre a qual aparecem interferências tipográficas em vermelho e preto. A composição combina fotografia, reprodução gráfica, texto e apropriação, recursos característicos das práticas experimentais da arte postal do período. No verso encontra se mensagem manuscrita dirigida a Falves Silva, identificação impressa de Michael Groschopp e seu endereço em Wernigeröder Strasse 44, Magdeburg, código postal DDR 3015. O cartão conserva selo postal de 40 pfennig da República Democrática Alemã e marcas de circulação postal, elementos que fazem do próprio percurso pelo correio parte material da obra. Michael Groschopp nasceu em 1956 em Schönebeck, às margens do rio Elba. Depois de estudar na Pädagogische Hochschule de Magdeburg entre 1978 e 1979, foi desligado da instituição por razões políticas. Passou a participar da Mail Art a partir de 1980 e, entre 1983 e 1985, dirigiu voluntariamente com Helmut Block a Inselgalerie de Magdeburg, espaço que apresentou também trabalhos do artista chileno Guillermo Deisler. O endereço de Wernigeröder Strasse 44 documentado neste cartão aparece igualmente registrado em fontes históricas da rede internacional de arte postal, inclusive em convocatórias de projetos organizados por Groschopp. Em 1983 ele promoveu o projeto internacional The Eyes of the Children, recebendo trabalhos de participantes da rede em Magdeburg. A correspondência com Falves Silva demonstra a inserção do artista brasileiro em circuitos que atravessavam as fronteiras políticas da Guerra Fria e relacionavam Brasil, Alemanha Oriental e a comunidade internacional de Mail Art. The work documents the international Mail Art network that connected artists in Latin America and Eastern Europe during the 1980s. On the front Groschopp uses a photograph reproduced through a halftone graphic process showing a seated human figure, combined with typographic interventions in red and black. The composition brings together photography, graphic reproduction, text and appropriation, procedures closely associated with experimental postal art practices of the period. The reverse contains a handwritten message addressed to Falves Silva, the printed identification of Michael Groschopp and his address at Wernigeröder Strasse 44, Magdeburg, postal code DDR 3015. The postcard retains a 40 pfennig stamp from the German Democratic Republic and postal markings, making its actual journey through the postal system part of the material history of the artwork. Michael Groschopp was born in 1956 in Schönebeck on the Elbe. He studied at the Pädagogische Hochschule in Magdeburg from 1978 to 1979 before being expelled for political reasons. He became involved with Mail Art from 1980 and from 1983 to 1985 voluntarily directed the Inselgalerie in Magdeburg together with Helmut Block, where works by Chilean artist Guillermo Deisler were also exhibited. The Wernigeröder Strasse 44 address documented on this postcard also appears in historical records of the international Mail Art network, including calls for projects organized by Groschopp. In 1983 he organized the international project The Eyes of the Children and received contributions from members of the network in Magdeburg. His correspondence with Falves Silva demonstrates the participation of the Brazilian artist in artistic networks that crossed the political boundaries of the Cold War and connected Brazil, East Germany and the wider international Mail Art community. The document has significant historical value because it directly records communication between Michael Groschopp and Falves Silva while preserving the address, postage stamp, postal cancellation, handwriting, graphic intervention and physical evidence of international postal circulation in 1984.

Parte da mensagem manuscrita e de algumas inscrições da frente possui leitura limitada devido à sobreposição gráfica, à caligrafia e ao estado material do cartão, razão pela qual não foram realizadas transcrições conjecturais. O documento constitui evidência primária da correspondência entre Michael Groschopp e Falves Silva e da participação de ambos na rede internacional de Mail Art durante os anos 1980. The document constitutes primary evidence of correspondence between Michael Groschopp and Falves Silva and of their participation in the international Mail Art network during the 1980s. The address preserved on the postcard corresponds to the address associated with Groschopp in historical international Mail Art records from the period.
