O cartão também preserva referências geográficas a Macau e ao Rio Grande do Norte, território fundamental para a história do Poema Processo e para a atuação de Falves Silva.\n\nTEXT FOR THE SALSA PROGRAM IN ENGLISH\n\nMail art card featuring an intervention by Bene Fonteles over a graphic composition by Falves Silva, dated February 14, 1980, and subsequently returned to Falves Silva. The main side presents an experimental assemblage created through layering, collage, cutting, reproduced photography, printed graphics, translucent strips, and blue areas. A large X shaped structure crosses most of the surface, reorganizing and partially concealing the original images. Visible elements include fragments of human figures, collective scenes, portraits, geometric forms, and the words SO, RUA, and FALVES SILVA.\n\nThe intervention transforms the original card into a shared and process based artwork. Bene Fonteles acted upon an image previously created by Falves Silva, adding materials, marks, and new visual fields before returning the object to its original sender. This procedure reveals fundamental principles of mail art, including circulation, participation, reciprocity, appropriation, collective authorship, and the continuous transformation of an artwork during its journey.\n\nThe reverse retains the printed design of a tourist postcard from Macau, Rio Grande do Norte, bearing the inscriptions Macau RN Brasil, Salina, Colheita do Sal, and Salt Works, Collecting the Salt. Drawings, lines, geometric shapes, small graphic signs, a circular figure resembling a head or organism, a red triangle, and handwritten notes were added over the printed surface.\n\nThe handwritten information includes the date February 14, 1980, the name Falves, the expression Love and work, and the phrase distributing paper is the role of the artist. This sentence establishes a direct relationship between artistic creation, the circulation of printed matter, and the practice of mail art. The handwritten signature at the bottom is attributed to Bene Fonteles. Some annotations remain partially illegible because of overlapping lines and the graphic characteristics of the handwriting.\n\nThe work documents the exchange between Bene Fonteles and Falves Silva within Brazilian networks of mail art, visual poetry, experimental art, and alternative communication. The card also preserves geographical references to Macau and Rio Grande do Norte, a territory of major importance to the history of Poema Processo and to the artistic activity of Falves Silva.
