He is an internationally recognized poet, visual artist, performer, publisher, art historian and educator, widely acknowledged as one of the leading figures of the British Poetry Revival. His practice encompasses poetry, visual art, conceptual art, performance, installation, artists books and interdisciplinary experimentation.Fisher began writing poetry in 1962 and became involved with British Fluxus related activities during the late 1960s, including events associated with Fluxshoe. Since then, performance and process based interdisciplinary practice have remained central to his work.Throughout the 1970s he played a major editorial role within experimental poetry networks through Edible Magazine, Aloes Books, New London Pride and later Spanner.
